Violet Los Angeles is a charming neighborhood Bistro and Cooking School in the heart of Westwood Village. Housed in a two-story historic brick building, Violet features a lush and romantic courtyard, chic bar and dining room, rooftop terrace, and a beautiful demonstration kitchen.
Reservations are highly recommended. We host numerous private events, from birthdays and weddings to corporate and team-building cooking classes, bar mitzvahs, and afternoon tea.

Steak House Favorites
Join us upstairs at Violet Cooking School for an evening inspired by the timeless flavors of a classic American steakhouse. This class blends hands on cooking with live chef demonstration, giving guests the opportunity to both participate and observe while learning the techniques behind several steakhouse favorites.
Chef Kristen Shapero will guide the class through preparing a beautifully seared petite tender steak along with classic accompaniments. Guests will help prepare elements of the menu while Chef Kristen demonstrates key techniques such as building a crisp iceberg wedge with creamy blue cheese dressing, creating golden layered pommes anna, and preparing rich creamed spinach.
At the end of class, guests will sit down together to enjoy the full meal, served as a plated dinner and paired with a glass of wine.
To finish the evening, we will prepare and serve Violet’s warm brownie skillet fresh from the oven.
This class is welcoming to cooks of all skill levels and designed to be both educational and relaxed.

Corned Beef & Cabbage with Chef Jesse Brune
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a hands-on culinary experience that honors tradition while elevating it with technique and finesse.
This interactive class centers around a beautifully executed Corned Beef & Cabbage, prepared step by step under the guidance of Chef Jesse Brune. Guests will learn the foundations of brining, spice layering, proper simmering, and vegetable timing to achieve tender meat, vibrant cabbage, and deeply developed flavor.
The evening begins with a specialty Irish whiskey cocktail demonstration, where you’ll learn how to build a balanced, spirit-forward cocktail perfect for entertaining.
To close the night, we’ll finish with a classic Irish Coffee served alongside dessert.
